There is no shortage of AI news. There is a shortage of AI news you can check. AI Daily is Promptea's attempt at the second thing: one story a day, chosen on merit, with every source listed and linked so you can disagree with our reading of it.
How a story gets picked
Each run starts by researching the day broadly — frontier labs, open-source releases, developer platforms, infrastructure, research and regulation — and building several candidates rather than grabbing the first headline. Candidates are then scored on impact, how much they actually change for people building with these tools, source quality, and whether anyone independent has confirmed them.
The same-day rule
The date that matters is when the thing happened, not when someone wrote about it. A story published today about yesterday's announcement is yesterday's news, and it will not run here. Event date and publication date are tracked separately, and the publishing system rejects anything that fails that check — the guard is enforced server-side, not left to good intentions.
The practical consequence is that some days will have no article. That is the intended behaviour, not a bug. Publishing nothing is better than padding the schedule with something stale.
What gets checked before publishing
- At least one primary source — the company's own announcement, model card, documentation, changelog, paper or filing.

Where a development genuinely changes something about prompting, model selection, context windows or API cost, the article will say what changes and why. Where it does not, it will not pretend otherwise.
