Siri AI ships Monday. The rest of the week is conferences.

Apple's rebuilt assistant reaches shipping software on 14 September — in beta, English only, not in the EU, and with undisclosed daily limits on anything that runs on Apple's servers. Midweek, Dreamforce and AI Infra Summit run on the same three days. No frontier model has an announced date.

Everything below has a date somebody has publicly committed to. Where a week-ahead usually drifts into what is *expected*, this one does not: if no company or organiser has put a date on it, it is not in this list. That leaves a week with a clear shape — one large consumer shipment on Monday, two conferences splitting the stack in half midweek, hardware on Friday, and no announced frontier model release at all.

Monday 14 September: iOS 27 ships, and Siri AI arrives as a beta

Apple said on 9 September that iOS 27 will be available as a free software update on Monday, 14 September, and that Apple Intelligence arrives with it the same day for devices set to a supported language. The rebuilt assistant, Siri AI, rolls out alongside it — in beta, English only, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish following in October (Apple).

Two lines in Apple's own footnotes are doing more work than the feature list. The first: Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU on iOS, iPadOS or watchOS, and neither will the features that depend on it. Apple says it is "working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users' privacy and security" — it does not say when.

The second is about metering. Apple states that Apple Intelligence features which run on its servers — Siri AI among them, along with the intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts — are subject to daily usage limits, that those limits vary by feature, request complexity and system demand, and that "expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future." No numbers are published for any of it.

That is the part worth watching on Monday. A consumer assistant shipping with an undisclosed, variable server-side quota is a different product from one that simply answers. The practical question over the following days is not whether Siri AI is good, but where the ceiling sits and how visible it is when a request gets refused for quota rather than for capability.

Tuesday to Thursday: two conferences, two halves of the stack

Dreamforce runs 15–17 September at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The date and venue are stated in Akamai's 10 September announcement of an expanded integration between its API security product and the Agent Fabric built by Salesforce's MuleSoft, which it says it will demonstrate there (GlobeNewswire). That release is a fair signal of the register the week will be conducted in: governance across APIs, agents and MCP servers, aimed at companies that already have agents in production and are now trying to control what those agents can reach.

AI Infra Summit runs the same three days, 15–17 September, at the Santa Clara Convention Center (GlobeNewswire). The organisers say the programme has grown to more than 400 speakers and 300-plus sessions across five tracks — Data and Models, Compute, Data Movement, AI Data Center, Physical AI — with AWS and Oracle as Diamond Partners. Named speakers include Jeff Dean, chief scientist and technical lead for Gemini at Google; Lip-Bu Tan, Intel's CEO; and Ian Buck, NVIDIA's VP of hyperscale and HPC (PR Newswire). The stated theme is 2027 roadmaps.

Worth knowing, and worth not over-reading: Buck used the 2025 edition of the same event to launch NVIDIA's Rubin CPX, per the organiser's own release. Silicon announcements have landed at this conference before. Nothing of the kind has been announced for this year, and the historical pattern is not a schedule.

The two events running concurrently is a reasonable picture of where the industry's attention currently divides — one room arguing about how to govern agents that are already deployed, the other about what it costs to serve them.

Friday 18 September: hardware

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max reach stores on Friday 18 September; pre-orders opened on Saturday 12 September. AirPods 5 land the same day, at $129, or $149 with the Wireless Charging Case, with hands-free access to Siri AI and Live Translation among the AI-dependent features (Apple). Both inherit the Siri AI caveats above, including the EU exclusion.

Confirmed, but not this week

  • OpenAI DevDay — Tuesday 29 September, San Francisco. OpenAI's event page gives the schedule in Pacific Time: opening keynote at 10 a.m. featuring Sam Altman, livestreamed free. In-person applications are closed. Satellite DevDay Exchanges are planned for Bengaluru, Tokyo, Seoul, Paris, Berlin, London, São Paulo and Mexico City.
  • Micron fiscal Q4 earnings call — Wednesday 30 September, 2:30 p.m. Mountain time, announced by press release on 26 August. The nearest scheduled read on memory demand.
  • iPhone Duo — pre-orders Friday 16 October, in stores Friday 23 October, with 28 further countries on 30 October. Apple's foldable is not part of this week.

What is not on the calendar

No frontier model release has a publicly confirmed date between 13 and 19 September. That is not a prediction that none will happen — labs ship without notice, and two of the three largest shipped in the first ten days of this month. It means only that nothing is scheduled, and that any claim you see this week about a model arriving on a particular day is someone's guess rather than a company's commitment. It is worth checking which of the two you are reading.

Why this matters

  • Siri AI ships with daily usage limits on its server-side features that Apple has not quantified, and says expanded access will be sold later. What users hit first may be the meter rather than the model.
  • Apple is launching its flagship assistant with the EU carved out on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Assistant capability is now partly a function of jurisdiction, with no stated timeline for parity.
  • Dreamforce and AI Infra Summit running on the same three days splits the week neatly between governing agents already in production and paying for the compute that serves them — the two live questions of this phase.

Key takeaways

  • Monday 14 September: iOS 27 is a free update, Apple Intelligence arrives with it, and Siri AI rolls out in beta — English only, not initially in the EU.
  • 15–17 September: Dreamforce at Moscone Center, San Francisco, and AI Infra Summit at the Santa Clara Convention Center, concurrently.
  • Friday 18 September: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max reach stores, alongside AirPods 5 at $129.
  • Outside the window but confirmed: OpenAI DevDay on 29 September, Micron's fiscal Q4 call on 30 September, iPhone Duo on 23 October.
