Week ahead: Google retires its May Antigravity agent, and an AI data center builder reports
Two confirmed dates this week: a Gemini API agent version shuts down Monday with renamed tool parameters in its replacement, and Applied Digital reports Wednesday.
Covers 2026-10-04 – 2026-10-10
This is a short week ahead, and deliberately so. We found two items with a publicly confirmed date between Sunday, October 4 and Saturday, October 10: a Gemini API agent version that shuts down on Monday, and an earnings call from a company that builds data centers for AI workloads on Wednesday. Nothing else we could verify from a primary source landed in the window, and we are not filling the gap with launches nobody has dated.
Monday, October 5: the May build of Google's Antigravity agent shuts down
Google's Gemini API deprecations page lists antigravity-preview-05-2026, the managed agent released on May 19, with a shutdown date of October 5, 2026. The recommended replacement is antigravity-preview-09-2026, which Google released on September 17 and which, according to the release notes, replaces and deprecates the May version.
Antigravity is Google's hosted agent in the Gemini API: it plans, runs code, edits files and searches the web inside a Linux sandbox that Google operates. The model page for the September version says the runtime harness gained improved prompt caching, native code search tools and line-range file editing, and lists a 1,048,576-token input context and a 65,536-token output limit.
The part that matters for anyone still on the May build is not the new features. The September 17 release note says the agent's built-in tools changed: parameters now use PascalCase instead of snake_case, and file edits use line-range replacements instead of full rewrites. Swapping the version string may not be enough.
- Code that parses or logs the agent's tool calls by parameter name needs to expect the new casing.
- System prompts or instructions that name tool parameters in snake_case should be updated so they match what the agent actually sees.
- Workflows that assumed each edit rewrites a whole file, for diffing or review, should be checked against line-range edits.
Google's pages do not publish pricing for either version or describe any grace period, so we would not count on one.
Wednesday, October 7: Applied Digital reports
Applied Digital (Nasdaq: APLD), which describes itself as a designer, developer, owner and operator of purpose-built data centers for high-performance computing including AI, announced that it will publish results for its fiscal first quarter, ended August 31, 2026, after the market closes on October 7. The conference call is at 5:00 p.m. Eastern (18:00 in Buenos Aires) and will be webcast.
It is one of the earlier AI-infrastructure reports of the October cycle, which makes it a small, early read on how the data center buildout behind model access is going. The company has not previewed any figures, and we are not going to guess at them.
Just outside the window
Two dates that fall after this week are worth putting in a calendar now, because both are on primary documentation:
- October 15: Anthropic's deprecations page lists Claude Haiku 4.5 (claude-haiku-4-5-20251001) as Active with a tentative retirement date of "not sooner than" October 15, 2026. That is a floor, not a scheduled shutdown: no deprecation has been announced, and Anthropic says it gives at least 60 days' notice before retiring a publicly released model.
- October 22: Google's deprecations page lists shutdowns for three Veo 3.1 preview models (veo-3.1-generate-preview, veo-3.1-fast-generate-preview and veo-3.1-lite-generate-preview), with gemini-omni-1.1-flash as the recommended replacement.
If something with a confirmed date gets announced during the week, it will show up in the daily editions rather than here.
Why this matters
- Anyone running the May Antigravity agent has until Monday, and the replacement changes tool parameter names, so prompts and parsers may need edits, not just a version bump.
- Applied Digital's report is an early, small data point on the AI data center buildout this earnings season.
Key takeaways
- antigravity-preview-05-2026 shuts down October 5; replacement is antigravity-preview-09-2026
- The September agent uses PascalCase tool parameters and line-range file edits
- Applied Digital reports October 7, call at 5:00 p.m. ET
- Claude Haiku 4.5's October 15 date is a floor; no deprecation has been announced
