Specify the tone: professional / friendly / urgent / neutral.
Set constraints: character limits for copy, no jargon, no passive voice.
Ask for variants, not a single answer: 'give me 5 options.'
Provide brand vocabulary if you have it: 'use workspace, not project.'

Design spec critique

Review the following design specification and identify gaps.

Spec:
[paste your design spec or user story]

Review for:
1. Missing states — are empty, loading, error, and success states covered?
2. Edge cases — what happens with very long text, zero items, or maximum limits?
3. Accessibility — are focus order, keyboard navigation, and screen reader labels mentioned?
4. Ambiguous copy — any label or message that could be interpreted more than one way?
5. Missing interactions — hover, tap, drag, or transition behaviors not described?

For each issue found, write:
- Location: [which part of the spec]

FAQ

Can AI replace a UX writer?

No. AI can generate copy variants and flag obvious issues (passive voice, jargon, ambiguous labels), but UX writing requires understanding user mental models, tone consistency across a product, and context that AI cannot reliably infer. Use AI to accelerate drafting and generate alternatives; keep a human in the loop for final decisions.

Should I paste my design file into the prompt?

Most AI models cannot read Figma files directly. What you can paste: a written description of the component, your design spec text, acceptance criteria, or a list of states (empty, loading, error, success). For image-capable models, you can attach a screenshot of your design.
